Inspection summary
Brixx Brewhouse has been inspected 9 times by Interior Health Authority since November 30, 2018. The most recent inspection, on July 29, 2026, recorded 3 infractions.
3 of 9 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 2 inspections with 4 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination, Food temperature control and Food source, labelling and allergens.
The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk
This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.
Recorded 4 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on July 29, 2026. For example:
7 Are foods protected from contamination?
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded 3 times across 3 separate inspections, most recently on January 28, 2025. For example:
2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?
Food source, labelling and allergensHigher risk
Food must come from approved suppliers, stay in labelled containers and be thrown out when it is spoiled or damaged, such as dented or swollen cans. Labelling matters for allergies: an unlabelled container can hide an allergen.
Recorded once on July 29, 2026. For example:
6 Are the foods from approved sources and has the operator taken steps to ensure that the food is safe for consumption?
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded once on May 2, 2023. For example:
3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded once on June 20, 2019. For example:
7 Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?

- F1.6 Are the foods from approved sources and has the operator taken steps to ensure that the food is safe for consumption?
- Observation(s): Various food products in prep coolers (e.g. cream cheese spread, sauces, etc.) were labelled with 'use-by' dates. Use-by dates are established by staff members based off of food characteristics, processing steps, storage, or expiration dates determined by supplier. Some labels indicated that the use-by dates have elapsed.
- F1.7 Are foods protected from contamination?
- Observation(s): 1. Food products stored in Freezer #2 (stand-up freezer near the deep fryers) were being stored in containers without lids or plastic wrap. All food items should be kept properly covered to protect them from contamination, especially those products on the bottom/middle shelves. Employee on site was notified and informed EHO that lids or plastic wrap would be placed over top of the products. 2. Open bags of oats were observed in the dry storage area. Once opened, the oats must be transferred to a clean, food-grade container with a tight-fitting lid or the bag must be properly sealed to protect the product from contamination, pests, and moisture.
- F1.7A The operator must ensure that all food on the premises is protected from contamination.
- F2.5 Are the premises and equipment properly maintained and operated in a sanitary manner (i.e. ongoing maintenance)?
- Observation(s): 1. An accumulation of food debris was found under prep coolers and prep tables throughout the facility. 2. An accumulation of grease was found on the sides of the deep fryer and around the general grill area, including the fume hood. The fume hood is scheduled to be serviced in September. The floor surrounding these equipment was slightly slippery and requires cleaning and degreasing.
- F2.5B The premises must be properly constructed and maintained in good, clean and sanitary condition.

Went for Tuesday Burger Deal - $10 for any Burger, $4 for any side. We had the Brixx Burger (with onion rings)and the Gorgonzola Burger (with yam fries and spicy aioli) Food was unbelievably delicious. If had to pick, would rate the Gorgonzola a bit higher but you would have to like the blue cheese taste. Server Brooke was fantastic- friendly and super knowledgeable. She was managing a super busy restaurant yet made us feel as if we were her only table! Highly recommend

Ordered takeout from Brixx Brewhouse in Cranbrook and was very disappointed. The biggest issue was the value for the money. The chicken strips were $22,and the portion was incredibly small for the price. When I opened the box, I honestly thought there had been a mistake. The amount of food received was nowhere near what I would expect from a meal costing that much. The photo speaks for itself. The fish and chips were extremely greasy, the sweet potato fries were mushy rather than crispy, and the spinach dip came in a very small portion that felt overpriced for what was served. I understand takeout can sometimes lose a bit of quality during transport, but that doesn’t explain the small portions or the overall lack of value. With prices this high, I expected much better food and more reasonable serving sizes. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing takeout meals I’ve had in Cranbrook, and I wouldn’t order it again.

Went for what I thought would be a change and give this place a try, what a mistake I ordered a beer took sip the beer was flat. When I talk to the waitress, she said she still have to charge me for it. She said we just change the keg, then said a lot of people are drinking Kokanee gold and aren’t complaining all in the same breath,She’s definitely in the wrong job. After going up to the other staff she says she’ll change the beer out, but by that time I was so pissed I paid for the beer and left it there with only a few sips out of it. That’ll be the last time I go there. I actually went there for a burger, but after this episode, who knows what they would do to the burger I’ll stick with the regular places I know like the hideout fenwick and baker. To the server listen before you talk.

This is usually our go to date night place to eat at and enjoy a beverage. The service is amazing and the atmosphere is fun and friendly. I am upset because they changed their burgers. The ultimate cheeseburger used to be the best burger in town.. it was addictive and was the main selling point when telling our friends to check the brix out. But then they changed it- why? Why change good things that work… slightly disappointing when you order a food item with the expectation of knowing what it is. And it comes out completely different… please go back to the original recipe!! Other wise the food is still fantastic. Please check this pub if you want to enjoy a good burger for an amazing price!

Most bizarre experience I’ve ever had going to a restaurant. My friend and I got sat down in a booth. The guy server came up did not give us anytime to look at the drink menu to look at drinks. I ordered mine that was a ceaser along with a water. The server then didn’t even ask the person I was with and just talked away. We thought it was so weird he didn’t ask or acknowledge her. My friend had to go up and ask if it was okay if she could order a drink. Then I ordered food the server wouldn’t even ask her if she wanted food just took my order and walked away. Then when I ended up eating my food and needed a box because I couldn’t finish it the server broth a box and just set the bill in between us walking away and not saying anything. Then the server immediately came back with a machine for us to pay the bill. I looked at the server and told him he wanted separate bills and that we were going to order my friend a birthday desert or drink and he just wanted his bill paid along with his tip. I’ve never seen something so weird and uncomfortable like this in a service industry. My bill is was around 55-65 dollars of shitty food with a hair in it my friend had to spit on my plate and the worst server I’ve had in my life with an attitude. WILL NOT BE RETURNING! Awful place

This place definitely exceeds expectations for a pub connected to a hotel. The waitress was beyond sweet and attentive and both my burger and my partners steak dip were absolutely delicious!

After a long day of traveling, we got to our hotel and wanted a nice sit down experience. We had smash burgers and the sides for $14 each, amazing. Our waitress was very personable and answered lots of questions we had about the area. Definitely a great experience and will be back next time we’re through Cranbrook.

Worst meal I’ve had in a long time. The chef must smoke because that beef burger was so salty and overcooked I felt ill after eating it and the chicken burger was dripping in sauce I couldn’t taste anything else. We also had the cauliflower apply and it tasted like it was outa a box frozen and put in the microwave. Don’t even get me going on the sauce!😣 Do yourself a big favour and just don’t wear there sure wish I didn’t. Ruined my one night in Cranbrook If you don’t want a heart attack stay away!!!!
