What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on November 9, 2020. For example:
7 Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded once on November 2, 2017. For example:
4 - Are proper refrigeration, freezing and thawing procedures followed?
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.
Recorded once on November 8, 2018. For example:
4 Does the premises have the key services (e.g. water, sewer, power) required to operate safely?

- F1.4 Does the premises have the key services (e.g. water, sewer, power) required to operate safely?
- Observation(s): a) Water flow/pressure from the faucet at the ware wash sink is very low. The low flow/pressure is likely due to the eyewash device installed on the end of the faucet. Remove and clean the device to see if this will increase water flow/pressure at the faucet. If water flow/pressure cannot be increased by cleaning the device then remove the device permanently from the faucet. The primary purpose of the faucet is to provide an unhindered water supply in sufficient quantity and pressure for sanitation purposes etc. for this food premises. The primary purpose of the water faucet is not to be an eye wash station. Correct by November 16, 2018. b) At the time of inspection the hot and cold water taps did not control the flow of water at the rinse-spray arm. Staff stated that they controlled flow/water temperature by using the shutoff valves under the sinks. Have the taps checked and repaired so that all water flow control can be achieved by using the faucet taps, not the shutoff valves. Correct by November 16, 2018.
