      • No written procedures for skin cleansing prior to services and antiseptic use were available. Addressed during the inspection.
    • 10. Is cleansing and antisepsis of skin and mucous membrane performed in accordance to written procedures and are suitable products being used?
      • Antiseptic product used for skin preparation expired in September 2025. Acceptable antiseptic was available and will be used instead.

    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • (1) The proper steps were not being followed for cleaning and disinfecting tools. Tools were not being washed and dried before immersing them in the Barbicide solution. Discussed the proper steps and the set-up of a proper cleaning area/zone. * Ensure Barbicide solution is made fresh daily according to label instructions. Tools must be washed with soap and water, rinsed and dried prior to being disinfected for 10 minutes in the Barbicide solution. Rinse tools after immersion in Barbicide prior to use on client.(2) There were brushes with hair still on them in one of the workstation storage units. Reminder that only clean tools should be found inside the storage drawers. * Recommend having labeled bins for storing dirty tools until they can be washed and disinfected.

      • (1) The operator completed the Written Procedure for Accidental Skin Cuts or Punctures at the time of inspection.* Ensure written procedure is kept on site, and the staff are aware of where it is stored.* Ensure the written procedure is presented to a PHI upon request.

      • (1) A spray bottle with a yellow chemical cleaning solution was not labeled. Did not know what cleaning or disinfecting chemical was in the bottle. There were also some unlabeled spray bottles at the workstations. Operator confirmed these contained water. * Ensure all refilled bottles or containers are properly labeled.
