    • 04. Does the operator use approved methods for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and surfaces?
      • No prepared sanitizer was available in the kitchen at the time of inspection. The operator was advised to prepare an approved sanitizer solution and use it for cleaning and sanitizing food contact surfaces. Upon request, the operator prepared a chlorine-based sanitizer during the inspection.
    • 12. Are there adequate and properly operating dish washing facilities to effectively clean and sanitize equipment and utensils (unless noted elsewhere)(Non-Critical)?
      • Expired chlorine test strips (exp. December 2025) were found on-site. The operator was advised to obtain valid test strips to accurately verify sanitizer concentration.
    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • No pest control documentation was available for review, and no traps or glue boards were observed in the kitchen area. No signs of pest infestation were noted at the time of inspection. PHI provided the operator with an Alberta Health Services pest control checklist template via email for ongoing monthly monitoring and record keeping.
    • 19. Does the facility have a valid permit and does the facility operate in compliance with the conditions of that permit, or is the facility awaiting approval prior to operation?
      • No food handling permit was observed displayed in the facility at the time of inspection. PHI verified through the system that the operator holds a valid permit, which was subsequently posted upon request.
    • 20. Do food handlers at the facility have adequate food safety training?
      • The food safety handler certificate was not available for review at the time of inspection.

      • Bleach with fabric protection was being used for sanitizer solutions when conducting manual dishwashing. The bottle was replaced immediately with regular bleach that has no additives or scents. Ensure only regular bleach is used as additives and scents in bleach are not food safe.
