Inspection summary
Denny's Restaurant - Cranbrook has been inspected 19 times by Interior Health Authority since December 11, 2013. The most recent inspection, on May 22, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.
9 of 19 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 1 infraction recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination, Food temperature control and Cleaning and sanitizing.
The number of infractions per inspection has stayed roughly the same over time.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk
This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.
Recorded 4 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on May 22, 2026. For example:
5 Are the premises and equipment properly maintained and operated in a sanitary manner (i.e. ongoing maintenance)?
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded 4 times across 4 separate inspections, most recently on April 28, 2022. For example:
2 Are proper temperature controls maintained to ensure safe storage and display of foods?
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on November 7, 2024. For example:
3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded once on February 24, 2016. For example:
15 - Are there handwashing stations available and properly supplied?
Other findingsLower risk
Findings that do not fit the categories above, such as follow-ups that confirm an earlier violation was corrected, or requirements specific to this type of facility.
Recorded once on March 8, 2024. For example:
1 Does the facility have proper monitoring supplies?

Love it! I'm not one for chain restaurants or system-fast-food, therefor we are going to Denny's once a year - it's a 'must'. The breakfast there is honest, the quality is consistently high, and the service is reliable, friendly, and personalized. BTW: They served the best fruit and egg-dishes on the entire 'Powder-highway-trip' of us.

Consistent with any Denny's I've ever been to, which is perfectly fine. It's nice to be able to walk in to one of these places, order a favorite, and have it come out exactly as expected. Top picks are the Sante Fe Skillet, Slamburger, Breakfast Poutine, or if I'm eating lunch/dinner, a regular poutine with a double cheeseburger. I've had several of the other menu items over the years but I'm a bit boring and like my old faves, burger n fries. From this particular place though I've only had the breakfast. And it's as tasty as always. If I had one complaint, though it's the same with all restaurants these days, it's that the prices are a wee bit high. I've surely seen worse however. It's far from a deal-breaker though as I sometimes find myself in here regardless, cruising the menu for something tasty. Would return anytime. Maybe avoid food delivery though as just about any item will get soggy and limp in minutes (still tastes good but hey). Better to dine in if possible.

We had a great meal with great service. especially the manager Shivam who cheered my girlfriend on when she won her new best friend Owlbert.

Pancakes were fluffy inside and crispy on edges. Stella gives 4out of 5. Oliver prefers crispy bacon but it was done well. Eggs Benny had hard eggs but they fixed that situation real quick. I would definitely come back.

Denny's is always pretty consistent. We went there for breakfast this morning. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The coffee was pretty good and our food came quickly. I ordered the West Coast Slam, with scrambled eggs over salmon on sourdough bread with a side of shredded potatoes. It was tasty. You can't beat Denny's for a hearty breakfast with lots of selections.
