- Hot water temperatures at the handwashing sinks in all three childcare rooms were measured between 54.5 degrees Celsius and 56 degrees Celsius using a probe thermometer. Handwashing sinks accessible to children must be maintained below 54 degrees Celsius, with a recommended maximum temperature of 49 degrees Celsius for safety. To ensure consistent temperature control and reduce scalding risk, it is recommended that a mixing valve be installed on the affected sinks.

Ensure all equipment is in good repair and is easily cleanable and impervious to moisture.Ensure cleaning records are maintained as cleaning is completed. Records noted to not be completed. Operator mentioned that cleaning is done once a week. Please ensure cleaning for common touch surfaces are done every day, and records are maintained as cleaning is done.

- No bleach/chlorine test strips were available. Ensure bleach/chlorine test strips are acquired to help measure for proper disinfectant concentration.

- Several thumbtacks that were not fully secured to the wall were observed in all childcare rooms. Please replace thumbtacks with staples covered by a piece of tape to eliminate potential choking and sharp hazards.

- Expired oxivir wipes (disinfectant) were observed (05/03/2024). This was discarded during the visit.Used cleaning cloths noted in all care rooms next to the hand sink. Ensure used cloths are cleaned in between use. This was discussed onsite.

- Preschool room:Soap was watered down at hand sink. Please do not add water to hand soap as it will reduce the effectiveness of the hand washing.

- Preschool room: Used cloths were noted near the hand sink. Please ensure clean cloths are used for sanitation and used cloths are put to laundry after use.

- The program staff indicated that toy washing is occurring in the infant/toddler sink which is designated for diapering hand washing. This can lead to an increase and risk of cross contamination of toys that children can put in their mouth. Toy washing is required to be done in an approved hand sink that is not used for diapering or washroom hand washing.Debris was noted in toy bins in preschool rooms. Please ensure that the toys and bins are being cleaned and disinfected

- Yogurt and frozen fruit was noted in the fridges and indicated to be for a program activity. The program is not approved for food activities that require food preparation at this time due to insufficient sinks available. Prior to food activities, please contact our office to ensure safe food handling practices.
