    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • The staff washroom was stocked with a reusable towel for drying hands The facility owner removed the reusable towel to the laundry and replaced it with a roll of paper towel. Ensure that all hand washing sinks are stocked with hot and cold running water, soap, and a sanitary way to dry hands, using single use towels or paper towels.
    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • A hand sanitizer bottle was expired in the manicure area. Replace the hand sanitizer bottle with a new and non-expired hand sanitizer and in the meantime use the hand washing sink to conduct hand hygiene prior to providing manicure services.
    • 17. Is reusable equipment cleaned properly (Critical)?
      • A set of tweezers and scissors stored in a plastic storage container beside the wax melter in the esthetics room were observed with hair debris.Clean and disinfect the above-mentioned equipment and the storage container and ensure all semi-critical equipment used in the esthetics room are stored and protected from contamination.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The high-level disinfectants, Preempt CS20 and HLD5, were expired. Obtain new non-expired high-level disinfectants prior to providing esthetic, manicure, and pedicure services.Note: Facility owner and manager indicated they will obtain the new HLD right away.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The test strips for CS20 were expired and the test strips for HLD5 were not available to monitor the concentration of the high-level disinfectants.Obtain non-expired disinfectant specific test strips and monitor the high-level disinfectant concentration when reusing the solution. Ensure that records of high-level disinfectant testing are maintained. The HLD log template was provided with the report via email.
