    • 15. Is reusable equipment handled and stored properly (Critical)?
      • 1. The pedicure equipment trolley had dirty metal drill bits, a buildup of nail dust and a used mask touching clean items.2. There was one container of waxing supplies stored beside the waxing pot that had clean items stored with dirty items.-Clean out the equipment trays, discard any used items, and ensure that dirty tools including metal drill bits are cleaned and disinfected after each use. Do not store any dirty items in the same container with clean items.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. Preempt CS20 in a spray bottle was being used to disinfect the pedicure basin.-Preempt CS20 is not meant to be sprayed. Please follow manufacturers instructions for use for all disinfectants used. Discussed obtaining Preempt RTU, for disinfecting the pedicure basin.2. Tools were not fully submerged in the CS20 disinfectant tray and are left in the tray more than 20 minutes.-Please follow manufacturer's instructions for use for all disinfectants used. Ensure that tools are fully submerged in the disinfectant for only 20 minutes and then fully rinsed after. Store clean tools in a designated location (such as the uv storage unit) so that they are protected from contamination and so there is a clear separation between clean and dirty tools.3. There was debris in the bottom of the uv storage unit.-Clean out the uv storage unit and ensure that only clean tools are stored in the unit.
    • 27. Is the facility maintained in a visibly clean state and are environmental surfaces cleaned and disinfected properly?
      • 1. The manicure table and drawers had a buildup of nail dust, and the client arm rest was visibly dirty. -Thoroughly clean the manicure table and drawers and ensure that client contact surfaces are cleaned and disinfected after each client.2. The cupboards had a buildup of debris and miscellaneous items.-Please thoroughly clean all cupboards in both rooms and remove any unused items from the salon to allow for easier cleaning.3. There facial machine had a buildup of dust; the machine is no longer being used.-Remove the machine from the salon if it is not being used or thoroughly clean the machine.4. Bed sheets were stored on the bottom shelf in the waxing room and there were numerous bottles of unused product stored on the shelf.-Remove any unused items, laundry any towels and sheets that are being used and store in a manner that prevents contamination.

      • 1. Lysol disinfectant wipes were stored in an old expired Oxivir TB container. -Please ensure that all disinfectants are stored in their original manufacturer's bottle.

    • 13. Is single-use or uncleanable equipment being used as intended (Critical)?
      • Used wooden applicator sticks were sitting on the top of the wax pot, indicating that the sticks are being re-used.-Only use applicator sticks once and then discard.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • 1. There was an expired bottle of Oxivir TB wipes sitting on the counter.-Discard all expired disinfectants.2. There was debris in the bottom of the uv storage unit, indicating that tools are not being properly cleaned prior to storage.-Clean out the uv storage unit and ensure that all tools are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to placing in storage.

      • 1. The manicure equipment tray had dirty metal drill bits, a buildup of nail dust and a used mask touching clean items.-Clean out the equipment tray. Ensure that clean items are protected from contamination and do not store dirty items amongst clean items. Clean and disinfect metal drill bits after each use.2. The manicure table had nail dust on it and the client arm rest was visibly dirty. -Thoroughly clean and disinfect client contact surfaces after each client.3. Numerous cards were being stored in the splash zone of the hand wash sink in the waxing room.-Do not store items around the hand wash sink as this sink must be used for hand washing.

      • 1. Test strips used for testing the Preempt CS20 were expired in 2019. -Please obtain new test strips and maintain a daily log of the Preempt CS20 concentration in the soak tray.
