    • 31. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Critical)?
      • The 4 minute contact time sanitizer in the laundry room was <500ppm. The records indicated that is had last been filled over a month ago. Discussed with staff that the bottle should be checked regularly to determine how long it remained effective and changed when necessary. It was refilled during the inspection and the concentration was 2000ppm.

    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • ***There was a build up of dirt under the protective corner cover on the windowsill in Willow room where the cover had come away leaving the glue exposed and dirt collected on it.

      • ***Discussed the soiled appearance of the green chairs in the spruce room. There appeared to be a build up of dirt on the chairs. discussed with staff who indicated they were cleaned and sanitized regularly. Discussed that a degreaser may be effective in removing the build up or if they cannot be cleaned replacement may be the only option.

      • ***There was a concern with the sanitation of the foot end of the diaper change pat in the infant (chestnut) room. It was changed during the inspection. Discussed options for a different cover or finishing that may be easier for cleaning.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • ***There were toys present air drying in willow room. There were no staff or children present. There was no sanitizer present on the toys. Discussed with staff at the end of the inspection that air drying should be occurring with the sanitizer present on the toys as that will allow longer exposure.

    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • ***The 4 minute contact time was a mechanically diluted product that had <500ppm concentration.The dilution station was checked with the staff and their own testing strips. Their test strips were a presence absence colour change that did not change. The concentrate for the longer hose unit (used to fill the spray bottles) was empty.The other dilution station was checked and was working properly. All the spray bottles from all the rooms were brought in and changed using the unit with the shorter hose that was not empty.
