      • There is adhesive residual in the front entry on the floor which must be removed to enable proper cleaning.
    • 25. Are there adequate storage areas sufficient for the operation of the facility?
      • Staff lunch bags and personal items were being stored in the toddler room washroom.
    • 29. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Non-Critical)?
      • There is adhesive residual on the toddler room washroom countertop that must be removed to enable proper cleaning.

    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • Various carpets in disrepair with duct tape covering damaged area. Corners of plastic border of carpet in the Pre-Kinder Room damaged. - Repair or replace carpet in the above areas for proper cleaning purposes and trip hazard prevention.On August 22, 2024: At the time of re-inspection operator reported carpet maintenance consultation has been scheduled for August 23, 2024.

      • Stacked non-labelled laundry baskets with no liners and visible debris observed in laundry area. - Clean, sanitize, and label laundry baskets to maintain clear separation of clean and soiled laundry. Lined and covered receptables are required for soiled laundry to prevent cross contamination.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • Multiple carpets in facility appear to have a build-up of debris and visibly dirty. Carpet in OSC play area has tape affixed to the carpet. - Deep clean carpets at least monthly in infant areas and at least every three months in other areas, and when soiled. Remove tape for effective cleaning and ensure children are not present during cleaning and until carpets are dry.

      • Cots stacked in the Pre-Kinder Room were still covered with client bedding. - Remove client bedding and store in a manner that allows for adequate separation to prevent cross contamination.

      • Cluttered and stacked items on the floor and throughout the storage room at the back of the OSC room and in the storage area at the back of the Baby Room. - Remove items not in use by the facility and re-organize storage spaces to allow for areas to be easily accessible for cleaning and pest prevention.On August 22, 2024: At the time of re-inspection some stacked items in the OSC storage room had been removed. Continue to decrease clutter in the area and remove items not used by the facility.

      • Small first aid kits in each room were missing items and contained expired wipes from 2018. Larger first aid kit onsite was missing required items and not a designation CSA Standard Z1220-17 Type 2 Basic First Aid Kit.- Obtain a complete first aid kit that is ready to use and available at the facility and on field trips.       • Powder laundry detergent stored on ground and accessible to children in the OSC room. - Store all chemicals in an area inaccessible to children.
    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • Craft supplies stored on shelf accessible to children in the toddler room such as cotton balls pose a choking hazard to children. - Ensure no items that may pose a choking hazard are accessible to children aged less than 3 years old. Removed by operator. Glue sticks in Pre-Kinder Room and paint stored in toddler room not indicated as non-toxic ACMI approved products. - Remove all craft materials that are not designated as non-toxic approved products safe for use by children. Glue sticks and paint discarded by operator.Two toys with cracked plastic and sharp edges identified in play areas. - Remove damaged toys from play area as they may pose a physical hazard to clients. Operator discarded damaged toys.

    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • Diapering and handwashing were occurring in the infant room directly next to where bottles were being prepared. Staff were observed using the designated handwashing sink for dishes without disinfection. Dishes should be taken to the kitchen or the sink needs to be fully cleaned and disinfected prior to usage change.
    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • Shelving and other painted surfaces throughout the facility are beginning to peel and have loose paint chips. These areas must be scraped and repainted.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • Paper towels are not stocked in dispensers at numerous handwashing stations throughout the facility.
    • 15. Is laundry being properly handled in a suitable manner?
      • The bedding on the crib in the infant room was visibly dirty and requires more frequent cleaning.
    • 16. Does the social care facility have adequate lighting?
      • Several large ceiling lights had burned out and were causing dark areas throughout the facility. These must be replaced to ensure sufficient brightness for cleaning.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • Walls approximately 4 feet and below require cleaning as they are showing visible soiling from children's hands etc.
    • 23. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Critical)?
      • The crib in the infant room had bedding that was not snug-fitting. It also had peeling paint that could easily be consumed.
    • 25. Are there adequate storage areas sufficient for the operation of the facility?
      • The storage room was very unorganized and cluttered. All items not directly related to operations must be removed, and a thorough cleaning and organizing is required.
