    4 infractions

    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: Meats were stored above ready to eat vegetables in the walk-in freezer. Storing ready-to-eat vegetables/safer foods below meats may increase the risk of cross-contamination which may lead to foodborne illness.
      • Corrective Action: Operator of a commercial food establishment must store food in a manner that prevents cross contamination and makes food safe to eat.
    • 302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Reusable cleaning/wiping cloths were not stored inside a sanitizer solution when not in use. This may allow surviving bacteria to grow which may lead to contamination of food contact surfaces.
      • Corrective Action: Operator must ensure that when not in use, all cleaning/wiping cloths are kept inside a sanitizer solution of appropriate concentration. Staff corrected the deficiency during the inspection by keeping the cleaning cloth inside the sanitizer solution.
    • 308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) A knife with plastic handle that was not in good repair was found in the kitchen drawers. The plastic handle was peeling off and plastic particles could be seen in the drawer. Continuous use of the knife with peeling plastic particles could potentially lead to physical contamination of food.
      • Corrective Action: Operator of a commercial food establishment must remove any items/utensils that are not in good repair to prevent contamination of food and food items. Operator disposed the knife during the inspection.
    • 309 - Chemicals, cleansers, & similar agents stored or labeled improperly [s. 27]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) A bottle of Quats sanitizer was observed on top of a shelf containing clean utensils. Improper storage of chemicals may lead to chemical contamination of food and food contact surfaces.
      • Corrective Action: Food establishment operator must ensure that non-food agents such as sanitizers, cleaners and similar agents are stored in a separate place to minimize chemical contamination of food and food contact surfaces. Staff removed the Quats container and stored it with other chemicals in a separate place from food contact areas.
