    • 210 - Food not thawed in an acceptable manner [s. 14(2)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Frozen hamburger meats were observed left to thaw at room temperature. Public Heath Significance: Improper thawing of potentially hazardous food may provide an opportunity of surviving bacteria to regrow and reach harmful numbers which may cause foodborne illnesses.
      • Corrective Action: Staff relocated the meats to the cooler for proper thawing. Temeprature of the hamburger meats was at 5°C. Food premise operator must ensure that all potentially hazardous foods are thawed in a proper manner to make food safe to eat.

    • 103 - Failure to hold a valid permit while operating a food service establishment [s. 8(1)]
      • Observation: Health operating permit not available at time of inspection. Decal for current year was placed on to business license.
      • Corrective Action: Contact Northern Health to receive a replacement permit if staff are unable to find one. The health operating permit is to be posted in a conspicuous location at the restaurant.
    • 206 - Critical Hot potentially hazardous food stored/displayed below 60 °C. [s. 14(2)]
      • Observation: Cheese sauce inside of right-most insert of hot holding unit was measured to be approximately 53 C at time of inspection. Tray observed to be double-stacked to prevent burning of sauce. Potentially hazardous foods, including those containing dairy products, are to be stored either above 60 C or below 4 C to limit growth of potentially foodborne illness-causing organisms.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure that this item is kept at 60 C or more.
    • 210 - Food not thawed in an acceptable manner [s. 14(2)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Frozen hamburger meat was left on the table to thaw. Public Health Significance: Improper food thawing of potentially hazardous food may provide an opportunity for surviving bacteria to grow to harmful numbers or production of toxins which may lead to foodborne illnesses.
      • Corrective Action:
    • 301 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not maintained in sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
      • Observation: Ice machine in storage area observed to have some significant buildup of biofilm.
      • Corrective Action: Clean the ice machine immediately and ensure that the ice machine is kept in sanitary condition through regular cleaning in the future.
    • 314 - Repeat Operator has not provided acceptable written sanitation procedures [s. 24]
      • Observation: Food safety/ sanitation plans were not available at time of inspection. These should be written and available for staff to address in the event of a food safety hazard and for staff awareness of safe food handling procedures.
      • Corrective Action: Provide a food safety and sanitation plan for the premises.

    • 104 - Permit not posted in a conspicuous location [s. 8(7)]
      • Observation: Permit was not posted in the conspicuous location instead decal is posted.
      • Corrective Action: Operator to post the original permit document in the place of decal.
    • 212 - Operator has not provided acceptable written food handling procedures [s. 23]
      • Observation: Operator did not provide written food safety plan.
      • Corrective Action: Operator was education on the importance of having a written food safety plan. Operator will create and submit a comprehensive food safety plan before the follow up inspection.
    • 307 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not of suitable design/material [s. 16; s. 19]
      • Observation: Light fixtures in the kitchen food preparation does not have a shatter proof cover. Light fixtures in food preparation area must be covered in a manner that will reduce the risk of physical contamination to the food stored in it, in case of the breakage.
      • Corrective Action: Operator was told to install a shatter proof covers for the light fixtures or replace the lights with shatter proof led bulbs.
    • 309 - Chemicals, cleansers, & similar agents stored or labeled improperly [s. 27]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) An unlabelled bottle was found in the kitchen area, when questioned about its contents, operator was not sure what is inside the bottle.
      • Corrective Action: Operator discarded the contents of theb ottle and properly labelled it.
    • 314 - Operator has not provided acceptable written sanitation procedures [s. 24]
      • Observation: Operator did not provide written cleaning and sanitization procedures.
      • Corrective Action: Operator was education on the importance of the written cleaning and sanitization procedures document. Operator to prepare and submit the document before the follow up inspection.
