Inspection summary

Oggy's has been inspected 3 times by Northern Health Authority since January 12, 2026. The most recent inspection, on September 25, 2026, found no infractions.

2 of 3 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 3 inspections with 5 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Protecting food from contamination and Cleaning and sanitizing.

What these findings mean

Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.

  • Protecting food from contaminationHigher risk

This covers how food is stored, prepared and displayed: raw meat kept away from ready-to-eat food, food covered and stored off the floor, and nothing dripping or splashing into it. Cross-contamination from raw to cooked food is a direct route for salmonella and E. coli.

Recorded 3 times on August 5, 2026. For example: 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]

  • Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk

Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.

Recorded once on August 5, 2026. For example: 302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]

  • Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk

Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.

Recorded once on August 5, 2026. For example: 306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]

  1. Follow-Up Inspection

    0 infractions

  2. Routine Inspection

    5 infractions

    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Raw eggs were observed stored on the top shelf of the refrigerator above other food items. Public Health Significance-Improper storage of raw eggs may increase the risk of cross-contamination if egg contents leak onto ready-to-eat foods or food-contact surfaces.
      • Corrective Action: The operator was instructed to store raw eggs below ready-to-eat foods and in a manner that prevents cross-contamination.
    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Fries were stored in a container that was placed directly on the floor. Public Health Significance- Storing food directly on the floor increases the risk of contamination from dirt, dust, moisture, pests, and other environmental contaminants. It also hinders effective cleaning and sanitation of the storage area and may compromise food safety.
      • Corrective Action: The operator was instructed to remove the container from the floor immediately and ensure all food is stored on elevated shelving or stands to protect it from contamination and facilitate proper cleaning.
    • 209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
      • Observation: The light fixture covers were not fully shatterproof, as some covers had broken or damaged sections. The operator advised that there is a plan to replace the damaged covers in the future. Public Health Significance- Damaged light covers may not adequately contain glass fragments in the event of breakage, creating a potential physical contamination hazard for food and food-contact surfaces.
      • Corrective Action: The operator was instructed to ensure that no food is prepared, handled, or stored directly beneath damaged light fixtures until the covers have been replaced shatter-proof covers.
    • 302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
      • Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) One sanitizer bucket was observed with a wiping cloth that was not fully submerged in the sanitizer solution. Public Health Significance- Wiping cloths that are not fully immersed in sanitizer may not maintain the required sanitizer concentration across the entire cloth, reducing their effectiveness and increasing the risk of spreading contaminants to food-contact surfaces.
      • Corrective Action: The operator was instructed to ensure that wiping cloths are kept fully submerged in the sanitizer solution when not in use to maintain effective sanitization.
    • 306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
      • Observation: The area around the freezer was observed to have an accumulation of dirt and food debris. Additionally, the flooring transition strip/tape covering a damaged section of the floor was worn in several areas. The storage area was also not adequately organized.Public Health Significance- Accumulated food debris and damaged floor surfaces can create conditions that support pest activity and bacterial growth. Worn flooring transitions that trap food and moisture may prevent effective cleaning and sanitizing, increasing the risk of environmental contamination. Poorly organized storage areas can further hinder sanitation practices and compromise the safe storage of food and food-contact items.
      • Corrective Action: The operator was instructed to thoroughly clean the affected areas, including corners and other hard-to-reach locations, and to maintain the storage area in an organized manner. The operator was also directed to replace the worn transition strip/tape as an temporary measure while working toward a permanent repair of the damaged flooring to ensure the surface remains smooth, cleanable, and in good repair.
