      • There is some damage to the walls in the "Rams" room where paint and drywall are chipping off the wall. - Please repair the wall, ensure all walls are smooth, in good condition, and can be properly cleaned.

      • Some of the storage cupboards/counters in the classrooms were worn and no longer cleanable. Cabinets and counters in the main floor classrooms are set to be replaced.- Repair or replace all cupboards and counters that have chipped surfaces and are not smooth and cleanable.

      • Some damaged wicker baskets were being used to store creams and other supplies in the "Kittens" classroom. - Please replace these containers. Ensure all equipment used is in good condition and can be easily cleaned.

      • Some of the storage cupboards in the classrooms were worn and no longer cleanable. Facility is looking into grants to replace the cupboards in the New Year.- Repair or replace all cupboards that have chipped surfaces and are not smooth and cleanable.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • The paper towel roll in the Kittens room was not on the dispenser. Some of the paper towel rolls are stored too close to the sink and are not fully protected from contamination (splashing water). - Please ensure that all hand sinks are stocked with paper towels in appropriate dispensers that protect the bulk supply from contamination.

      • A bingo dabber labelled "keep out of reach for children" was in the "Big Kids" room. - Was discarded onsite, please ensure all art supplies is non-toxic and suitable for children.

      • Some of the storage cupboards were worn and no longer cleanable. Facility has a plan to update the cupboards in the new year. - Repair or replace all cupboards that are not smooth and cleanable.

      • 1) There was a loose blind cord in the duck room. - Please secure the cord. 2) There was a broken window bar in the kitten room. - Please repair the bar.
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • Handwashing observed onsite after diapering and before meals was quite short (around 5-10 seconds). - Please ensure staff are thoroughly washing the children's hands for about 20-30 seconds. Also remind staff to ensure that they are washing their hands before donning gloves for food service.

      • Some of the storage cupboards were worn and no longer cleanable. Facility has a plan to update the cupboards in the new year. - Repair or replace all cupboards that are not smooth and cleanable.

      • There was a missing baseboard and piece of drywall in the eaglet room due to some leakage following heavy rain. Work is scheduled to be completed later in August. - Please ensure that the wall and baseboard are repaired.

      • The handwashing sinks in the chickadee and duck room were not getting warm. - Please ensure that all handwashing sinks are supplied with hot and cold running water.

      • There was a bar soap in the staff washroom in the basement. - Please ensure staff are not using bar soap to wash their hands and that soap in this washroom is in an appropriate dispenser.

      • A number of rooms had pails filled with soap/water that were being used throughout the day to clean children's hands and wipe surfaces in the room. Handwashing must be done for children at sinks with warm running water. Do not dip hands in common bucket.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • Buckets with soap/water may be used in some rooms for cleaning children's hands. Ensure hands are washed with warm running water, dispensable soap and paper towel. Do not use common source of water for washing hands as this could create disease spread.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • Wood storage shelf in Eaglet was rough on top and not easily cleanable. Ensure surfaces are smooth/easily cleanable.Several floor registers (including in the Chickadee room, Eaglet room) are not flush with the floor; edge is coming up. Please ensure all registers are secured so not a tripping hazard.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • Duck room had a sand play table (not currently filled with sand) that had some sharp edges where it was broken and it was repaired with tape. Removed during inspection.
