    • 03. Are facility-specific written procedures established to adequately describe safe and sanitary practices?
      • Facility was provided with written procedure for accidental skin cuts or punctures.Reprocessing sink is not used for hand hygiene. Written procedures for sink decontamination are not required.
    • 08. Is hand hygiene performed by the personal services worker when required, in a proper manner and are provisions available to perform hand hygiene?
      • The alcohol based hand rub (ABHR) was expired. Requested removal from facility.Personal service workers (PSW's) must perform hand hygiene (i.e. washing hands with soap/water) when required. Hand hygiene must be performed by the PSW before and after every personal service, before putting on gloves that will be worn while providing a personal service, following the removal of gloves that are worn while providing a personal service, and after reprocessing. Alcohol based hand rub (ABHR) can be used if hands are visibly clean. The ABHR alcohol-based must have an alcohol content between 60 to 90%, have an NPN or DIN issued by Health Canada and not be expired.
    • 20. Is reusable equipment disinfected properly?
      • The barbicide canisters were soiled and/or half empty. Discussed actions required.The Wahl intermediate-level disinfectant used for electric hair clippers was expired. Requested removal from facility.
