      • - The lid of the small chest freezer in the back storage area is damaged. It is no longer cleanable.

      • - Repair the floor so it is durable, level, smooth, sealed and cleanable.

      • Observation: Bottle labelled "sani" had no detectable common sanitizers (bleach or quats) and solution inside was very bubbly similar to dish soap.
      • Corrective Action(s): Switch out bottle contents for an approved sanitizer such as the one that is used upstairs in the restaurant. Due: before opening next operational day

      • Corrective Action(s): Have this removed asap as bait could come into contact with food contact surfaces. Bait should only be used outside the food premises.

    • 309 - Chemicals, cleansers, & similar agents stored or labeled improperly [s. 27]
      • Observation:
      • Rodent bait boxes were found to be placed throughout the premises where food was being stored and processed. Bait boxes contain poison, which is a chemical that could get on food prep surfaces from the feet of rodents that touch the bait. This poison could be transferred to food that people eat.
      • Corrective Action(s):
      • Immediately STOP the use of chemical pest elimination (bait boxes) in food preparation and storage areas. Only mechanical means (catch-all-traps, snap traps, glueboards) shall be used. Call your pest company and have them remove the chemical bait boxes immediately.

      • Observation:
      • At time of inspection, the one staff member working did NOT possess a valid FoodSafe Level 1 certificate. There must be one person working in the food premises at all times, that possesses a valid certificate so proper food handling practices are being followed.
      • Corrective Action(s):
      • Immediately have all staff register for the FoodSafe level 1 course and obtain a valid certificate. Only schedule staff, that possess the certificate, to work.

      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Observed "Milk to Go" drinks with expiration date of Aug. 9/17. Foods passed their best before dates shall be removed from sale and discarded as they are unsafe to to consume.
      • Corrective Action(s): Remove the drinks from the display cooler and discard immediately. During the inspection, staff removed the milk drinks from sale.

      • Observation:
      • There is water pooling on the floor in the dry storage room. The water is coming from under the wall which adjoins the public washroom facilities. Staff state that the amount of pooling water corresponds with the amount of use the washroom facities receives. The pooling water is an attractant to pests and can contaminate foods (unsure if water is clean or dirty).
      • Corrective Action(s):
      • Store all foods off the floor (even bottled drinks) and repair the problem that is causing the water to leak/drain into the dry storage room.

      • Observation:
      • The upright "Kenmore" freezer had a temperature of 0C, and frozen foods (perogies, chicken strips, french fries, etc.) were defrosting. Staff started relocating foods into the chest freezer in the dry storage room. Staff stated that the freezer unit has routinely been doing this and is unreliable in keeping foods frozen.
      • Corrective Action(s):
      • Replace the freezer with a new freezer so that food is kept frozen at -18C at all times.
      • **Correction date: Sept. 15/17**
