    • 03. Is the bacteriological quality of the water in this pool satisfactory (Non-Critical)?
      • Weekly bacteriological sampling was missed for the period of August 17 to August 23, 2026. Pool water samples must be collected and submitted weekly to the Provincial Laboratory of Public Health for microbiological testing.Ensure pool water samples are collected and submitted to the Provincial Laboratory of Public Health on a weekly basis as required. Implement procedures to monitor sampling schedules and maintain records to prevent missed submissions.
    • 07. Are the filtration, circulation and disinfection systems used to maintain water quality working properly (Non-Critical)?
      • 1) Skimmer cover was not readily accessible for inspection. The cover could not be removed during the initial inspection and required maintenance staff and tools to gain access. Ensure skimmer covers are maintained in a manner that allows for routine inspection and cleaning.2) Significant debris accumulation was observed within the skimmer. Ensure skimmer baskets are cleaned regularly and maintained free of debris to support effective filtration and surface water recirculation.3) No visible water movement was observed through the hot tub skimmer at the time of inspection.Ensure the skimmer is operational and effectively drawing surface water into the recirculation system to maximize surface water recirculation.

      • Noted again: August 26, 2026It was observed that a clock is not available near the whirlpool.Please ensure a working clock is present and visible near the whirlpool in order for bathers to monitor their time spent in the hot tub.

      • Water clarity was satisfactory at the time of inspection, with the basin bottom clearly visible from the deck. However, dust and debris accumulation were observed on the pool bottom. Ensure the basin is cleaned as required to maintain sanitary conditions and prevent debris buildup.

      • Noted again: August 26, 20261) Alkalinity testing is not being done at least once a week.2) Hot tub testing records were incomplete. Dates and/or months were not consistently recorded with water quality test results. Ensure all testing records are accurately completed and include the full date of testing to maintain a complete and verifiable operational record.

      • Noted again: August 26, 20261) No printed copy of Alberta's Pool standards was noted to be available. The standards have fecal and blood response plans listed within them, which is important to be accessible to workers if the pool is needing to be disinfected properly. Please ensure that a copy of the standards, an equivalent written policy, or both is provided.2) Surveillance plan was not in place. Please ensure that a written plan is created and includes how often the pool is being checked, when and by which staff member.

      • Total Alkalinity 53 ppmPlease ensure that total alkalinity is between 60-180 ppm. Alkalinity can affect the balancing of the pH in the pool, which can explain the high pH. Please increase the alkaninity and re-measure the pH.
    • 07. Are the filtration, circulation and disinfection systems used to maintain water quality working properly (Non-Critical)?
      • The skimmer near the pool was missing the floating weir. Please ensure replacement of the floating weir or installing a basket weir. The floating weir is an important part of disinfecting a whirlpool. This part will draw in the top layer of water, where the contamination will commonly collect due to bathers, and will assist in disinfecting the water.

      • Total Alkalinity: Initially measured at 29 ppm. The operator added baking soda, and the water was retested, resulting in a correct value of 70 ppm, which is within the acceptable range(60-180ppm).

      • The pool permit was found posted inside the mechanical room, which is not visible to pool users.Please ensure the pool permit is relocated to a spot either within the pool area or just outside the entrance, where it is clearly visible to patrons.
