    • F2.2 Are proper pest control measures in place on the premises?
      • Observation(s): Observed excessive fruit fly infestation at the fruit & vegetable retail section. Operator installed fruit fly catching bait stations. The operator must try to break TWO cycles of fruit fly reproduction (i.e. one cycle is approximately 10 days) by increasing general cleaning of displays, fruit & vegetable rotation frequency and, maybe, even by keeping produce refrigerated overnight. Fruit Fly Breeding Cycle The fruit fly breeding cycle consists of four main stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Female fruit flies lay hundreds of tiny eggs on moist, decaying organic matter like rotting fruit. After about 24-30 hours, eggs hatch into larvae (maggots) that feed and grow for several days. The larvae then enter a pupal stage, transforming into adults within a hard casing. The entire cycle from egg to adult can be completed in as little as 7-10 days under ideal conditions, with adult flies becoming capable of mating and laying eggs within a couple of days of emerging.
    • F2.3 Are food contact surfaces, utensils and equipment washed and sanitized in a manner that removes/prevents contamination?
      • Observation(s): Operator must ensure that all food contact surfaces in meat and fish departments are cleaned on a regular basis by following three step cleaning method: wash with soap, rinse with clean water, sanitizer. At the time of inspection, staff stated that they only use QUAT sanitizer for cleaning.
