- 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
- Following diapering, client handwashing was observed. Staff applied soap on child's hand and allowed child to wash their own hands. Child rubbed their hands back and forth a few times and ran their hands under water briefly before drying their hands with paper towel. Please provide staff and client education on hand washing. It's recommended to help clients with handwashing, demonstrate how to wash hands, and/or provide verbal cues to guide hand washing (e.g. rub the soap between the fingers).
- 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
- The safety belt was not used when diapering an older toddler on the change table. Staff said the safety belt did not fit over the child so it was not used. The diapering safety belt must be used each time a child is diapered on an elevated surface. If the belt is too small to fit over the child, please complete diapering with a mat on the floor or repair or replace the safety belt.
- 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
- The diapering procedures were observed and reviewed. Surfaces appeared to be clean.Caregiver indicated that only one spray and wipe with bleach water is completed following use of the surfaces. Please implement a “wipe twice” procedure with any diapering or potty surfaces. Cleaning and disinfection is a two step process. Surfaces need to be wiped thoroughly to remove any soiled materials. Following the cleaning step, the surface needs to be saturated and wiped with disinfectant.
