    • 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
      • At time of inspection:1. All childcare washroom hand sink temperatures were noted to be less than 49 Degrees Centigrade - SATISFACTORY.2. The two kitchen washroom hand sinks (which children have access to) were measuring a maximum water temperature of 54.8 Degrees Centigrade. During inspection, the hot water tank temperature dial was turned down. Please verify (with photographs) that a maximum water temperature (of both faucets) measure 49 Degrees Centigrade or less.

      • At time of inspection:1. Two (2) cubbies within the toddler room were not secured to the wall.The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Ensure all cubbies are secured to the wall (i.e. to prevent them from falling onto a child in care).

      • The wood laminate wall panels for the exterior walls in the back play area were noted water damaged- ensure water damaged panels are replaced - investigate behind the panels to verify source of water infiltration and remediate as neededPanels were removed and replaced with new ones - new panels are starting to show signs of water damage. Operator indicated a new alternative will be looked into to avoid further damage. No water infiltration was identified.

      • At time of inspection:1. The south (side main entrance door) was not properly sealed at the bottom and can allow pests to enter into this facility. Although there is a door leading into this daycare, rodents still have the capability to enter when the door is left open. Rodents can also harbour the indoor play areas and food facility.The owner / operator of this facility is requested to conduct the following, namely:1. Re-seal the bottom of the south main entrance door.

      • Locks are missing from the cupboards. Please add locks to the cupboards and ensure children do not have access to supplies stored in the cupboards.
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • Small toys are noted in the 19 month -to-3 year-old room posing a potential choking hazard. Please remove any toys that may pose a choking hazard. The operator removed the small toys during the inspection.
    • 27. Are proper measures being taken to ensure that vermin do not enter or exist in the facility (Non-Critical)?
      • Holes are noted in the insect screen. Please repair the insect screen and ensure all insect screens prevent the entry of pests.

      • Sanitizer was unavailable at the time of inspection. Please have an approved sanitizer available for testing. Please use bleach or 0.5% hydrogen peroxide. ***The diapering area will be moved according to the operator, reassessment will be required upon re-inspection***Please have appropriate test strips for the sanitizer in use.

      • 1. The walls throughout the facility have gaps and nicks, making the walls difficult to clean. 2. Some of the cupboards are not secured to the wall. 3. Some of the edges of the cupboards are noted to be rough. 4. The counter to the toy sink has a spot for the installation for another sink. 5. In some places the edges of the door frames to the washrooms are rough. 1. Please repair the walls to be smooth, durable, easily cleanable. 2. Please secure the cupboards.3. Please smooth out the edges of the cupboards. 4. Please install a sink or finish the cupboard surface to be smooth, durable, and easily cleanable. 5. Please smooth the edges of the door frame.

      • The exterior cladding is incomplete on the outside wall by the daycare door. Please install the remaining exterior cladding.
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • Small toys such as cars, toy fries and sausages are noted in the 19 month -to-3 year-old room posing a potential choking hazard. Please remove any toys that fit in a toilet roll.
    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • A black bean bag chair is made from a material that does not appear cleanable. Please remove the bean bag chair and ensure all toys and chairs are easily cleanable.
    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • 1. The back of the mattress covers appear hard to clean. 2. Window coverings are missing on the windows.1. Please repair or replace the mattress covers and ensure the mattress covers are easily cleanable and wipeable on all sides. 2. Please install window coverings on the windows.
