Inspection summary
Altitude has been inspected 3 times by Northern Health Authority since July 17, 2026. The most recent inspection, on October 2, 2026, recorded 1 infraction.
1 of 3 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there were 3 inspections with 7 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Pests, Food temperature control and Cleaning and sanitizing.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded 2 times across 2 separate inspections, most recently on October 2, 2026. For example:
305 - Repeat Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded 2 times on September 28, 2026. For example:
205 - Critical Cold potentially hazardous food stored/displayed above 4 °C. [s. 14(2)]
Cleaning and sanitizingHigher risk
Anything that touches food, such as cutting boards, dishes and utensils, must be washed, rinsed and sanitized. Inspectors check dishwasher temperatures, sanitizer strength and how wiping cloths are stored. Poor sanitizing lets bacteria survive from one use to the next.
Recorded once on September 28, 2026. For example:
302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
Handwashing and staff hygieneHigher risk
Hands are the main way germs like norovirus move from people to food. Inspectors look for stocked, accessible handwashing sinks, staff washing hands when required, hair restraints, and sick employees being kept away from food. Gaps here can spread illness quickly.
Recorded once on September 28, 2026. For example:
401 - Critical Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
Permits, records and postingLower risk
Operating permits, required signage, written procedures and logs. These findings are administrative: the documentation was missing or out of date at the time of inspection.
Recorded once on September 28, 2026. For example:
103 - Failure to hold a valid permit while operating a food service establishment [s. 8(1)]

3 inspections
- Follow-Up Inspection
1 infraction
- 305 - Repeat Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
- Observation: A small gap was observed beneath the back exterior door. Public Health Significance - Openings around doors may allow the entry of pests such as rodents and insects, which can contaminate food, equipment, and food-contact surfaces.
- Corrective Action: Repair or seal the gap under the door by installing appropriate weather stripping, a door sweep, or other pest-proof barrier.
- 305 - Repeat Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
- Routine Inspection
6 infractions
- 103 - Failure to hold a valid permit while operating a food service establishment [s. 8(1)]
- Observation: The facility was operating without a valid health operating permit available on site and no permit was posted in a conspicuous location for public viewing. Public Health Significance - Operating without a valid permit and/or failing to display the permit may indicate that the facility has not met regulatory requirements or that patrons and inspectors cannot readily verify the facility's approval status.
- Corrective Action: Obtain and maintain a valid health operating permit. Post the permit in a conspicuous location where it is clearly visible to the public and inspectors at all times. Contact Northern Health to ensure the appropriate permit is in place.
- 205 - Critical Cold potentially hazardous food stored/displayed above 4 °C. [s. 14(2)]
- Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Creamer pods requiring refrigeration were stored at 15°C in the bar area. Public Health Significance - Potentially hazardous dairy products stored above 4°C may support bacterial growth and increase the risk of foodborne illness.
- Corrective Action: Staff immediately relocated creamer pods to refrigeration capable of maintaining 4°C or below. It was recommended that smaller quantities of creamer pods be placed out for service and replenished as needed. Ice used to maintain product temperature should be monitored and replaced frequently to ensure the creamer pods remain at or below 4°C throughout service.
- 302 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
- Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) Sanitizer wiping cloths were observed stored on countertops between uses. Public Health Significance - Improper storage of sanitizer cloths may reduce sanitizer effectiveness and increase the risk of contamination of food-contact surfaces.
- Corrective Action: Store wiping cloths in an approved sanitizer solution of adequate concentration between uses and replace sanitizer as required.
- 305 - Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
- Observation: A gap was observed beneath the back exterior door.
- 315 - Refrigeration units and hot holding equipment lack accurate thermometers [s. 19(2)]
- Observation: The facility did not have the thermometers in some of the refrigeration units including walk-in cooler. Public Health Significance - It is important to have working thermometers in the refrigeration units to ensure that the refrigeration units are meeting the regulatory requirement of maintaining temperature under 4°C at all times.
- Corrective Action: Install a clearly visible and accurate thermometer in the walk-in cooler and routinely monitor refrigeration temperatures.
- 401 - Critical Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
- Observation: Handwashing stations were not supplied with single-use paper towels. (Public Health Significance) Lack of paper towels prevents proper hand drying after handwashing and may discourage effective hand hygiene, increasing the risk of contamination of food and food-contact surfaces.
- Corrective Action: Provide and maintain an adequate supply of single-use paper towels at all handwashing stations at all times.
- 103 - Failure to hold a valid permit while operating a food service establishment [s. 8(1)]
