      • A window curtain cord was accessible to the clients in Baby Room 1.Ensure a hook is installed to raise cord above client accessible range. The cord was tied up once noted.

      • Activities and items unrelated to diapering were being stored adjacent to the diapering hand sink.Non-diapering related activities, such as food preparation, and storage of items not related to diapering are to be kept separate from the hand sink. Unrelated items were moved once noted.
    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • Ensure that all items use for toy storage, including baskets and shelving surfaces are smooth, impervious to moisture and easy to clean.Ensure that Wicker baskets being used can be properly cleaned and sanitized.

      • Finger paint being used was for ages 4 and older. Operator replaced paints with appropriate ones and moved age restricted paints to the older rooms.

      • The buckle for the change table in Baby Room 1 is in disrepair. Operator to put baby change table out of use and use floor mat until change table is repaired.

      • *Some blind coverings have bead cords hanging down and could pose an entanglement hazard to children. Remove hazard. Operator reported all cords will be shortened and secured above the reach of children.
    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • *One sleeping cot/crib missing for the proposed numbers in baby/infant room. At the time of the visit no babies/ infants were present.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • *Safety belts for baby and infant room missing for four chairs. At the time of the visit no babies/ infants were present.

      • The cork board hanging in the infant room is not secured to the wall. - Ensure the cork board is secured to the wall in a safe manner.

      • Window sills throughout the facility had some gapping noted. - Ensure all window sills are finished in a manner that allows them to be easily cleaned and impervious to moisture.Wall in baby room by windows has insultation exposed. - Ensure proper finishing of the wall to allow for surface to be smooth, easily cleanable, and impervious to moisture. Holes in ceiling tiles above entry to first toddler room closest to entry, in second toddler room near centre of the room. Ceiling tile missing in OSC room adjacent to Kinder room. Two ceiling tiles drooping in the Kinder room. - Repair or replace ceiling tiles.Holes on wall in baby room, hole between in toilets in combined toddle/pre-school bathroom, and unfinished holes under various hand washing sinks in rooms and bathrooms. Drywall exposed in baby room by sink and in first OSC room. - Finish the above areas to ensure surfaces are smooth, easily cleanable, and impervious to moisture.Cabinet doors under the OSC combination washroom have a gap in between them. - Adjust the cabinet doors to allow for proper closure of the doors with no gaps.

      • The washroom door of the Kinder bathroom is lockable and not accessible from the outside. - Ensure the washroom is accessible from the outside for supervision and safety purposes.
    • 09. Are properly operating hand washing sink(s) available in suitable location(s), and properly stocked with handwashing supplies?
      • No paper towel dispenser at hand washing sink in the infant room or in combined OSC washroom.- Ensure all hand washing sinks are equipped with an appropriate hand drying method.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • First aid kits were not in compliance with the guidelines located in Appendix H of the Health and Safety Guide for Operators of Child Care Facilities. - Ensure appropriate first aid kits are available onsite as per Appendix H of the Health and Safety Guide for Operators of Child Care Facilities.
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • Elevated climbable structures above 500mm in both OSC rooms and Pre-School room with no fall surfacing in place. - Operator reported structures will be covered in a way that prevents climbing. If this cannot be done in a safe manner, these structures may have to be removed unless adequate fall surfacing and encroachment distances are met.
    • 22. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Non-Critical)?
      • The water temperature at handwashing sinks throughout facility measuring room temperature between 20.0C - 21.2C.- Adjust water temperature to allow for hot water that is less than 49C at point of use.
    • 23. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Critical)?
      • There was one crib in the facility at the time of inspection located in Baby Room that did not appear to be constructed in a sturdy manner.- Ensure all cribs are constructed in a secure manner.

      • 11 cots available in south toddler room for proposed 12 children. - Ensure each child is provided with their own sleeping cot or mat.Cubbies do not appear to big enough to store bedding.- Ensure adequate storage for bedding is available.
    • 24. Are sleeping supplies and areas sufficient to ensure client safety and comfort (Non-Critical)?
      • No window shading in baby room at the door location. - Ensure proper room darkening shades are available for napping that are installed in a safe manner with no cords causing an entanglement hazards or accessible to children.
    • 25. Are there adequate storage areas sufficient for the operation of the facility?
      • Only 25 cubbies available for proposed 26 children in north OSC room. - Create or identify an area for individual storage another child.Note: Minimal physical separation under cubby coat hooks. Discussed ensuring all items on hooks do not contact any items from neighbouring cubbies.

      • 16 chairs available in the north OSC room for 26 children and 26 chairs available in the south OSC room for 30 children. -Ensure enough chairs are available for all children.
