Inspection summary
Italiano Please! has been inspected 4 times by Alberta Health Services (Environmental Public Health) since March 24, 2025. The most recent inspection, on October 7, 2026, recorded 4 infractions.
3 of 4 inspections on record found no infractions at all. In the past 12 months there was 1 inspection with 4 infractions recorded. The higher-risk findings here relate to: Food temperature control and Pests.
Recent inspections have recorded more infractions than earlier ones, so it is worth reading the latest reports closely.
What these findings mean
Health authorities word their violations differently, so we group them by what they mean for food safety. Higher-risk findings are the ones inspectors treat as critical, because they can directly make someone sick.
Food temperature controlHigher risk
Bacteria multiply fastest between about 4 °C and 60 °C (40 °F to 140 °F). Inspectors check that cold food stays cold, hot food stays hot, cooked food is cooled quickly, and that staff have accurate thermometers. Temperature problems are one of the most common causes of food poisoning, so these are treated as critical findings.
Recorded once on October 7, 2026. For example:
Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
PestsHigher risk
Signs of mice, rats, cockroaches or flies, or gaps and clutter that let them get in or hide. Pests carry bacteria and can contaminate food and surfaces, so evidence of activity is treated seriously and usually triggers a follow-up visit.
Recorded once on October 7, 2026. For example:
Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
Building, plumbing and upkeepLower risk
Floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and clean, with working lighting, ventilation, plumbing, hot and cold water, and washrooms. These are rarely an immediate food-safety risk on their own, but persistent problems can lead to pest or sanitation issues.
Recorded 2 times on October 7, 2026. For example:
Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?

- 10. Are food temperatures during storage and processing being controlled to maximize food safety?
- 1. Pasta was found on the front counter at room temperature and measured at 24.4°C after being out for more than 2 hours. Ensure the pasta is not maintained in the temperature danger zone. It must be either hot held at 60°C or above, cooled and refrigerated at 4°C or below, or discarded if left at room temperature for more than two hours.**Please use proper cooling methods 2. A package of frozen raw meatballs was observed thawing at room temperature on the countertop. Ensure all food is thawed using approved methods, such as under cold running water, in a refrigerator/cooler, in a microwave immediately before cooking, or as part of the cooking process. Improper thawing at room temperature can allow the surface of the food to reach temperatures that support rapid bacterial growth, increasing the risk of foodborne illness.**The meatballs were removed and place in the cooler during the inspection
- 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
- Pest control reports were not available at the time of inspection.**Please provide pest control report.
- 21. Is the facility properly constructed and maintained in a state of good repair to allow for the safe and sanitary handling of food?
- Several cabinet doors in the front service area have thermofoil surfaces that are chipped, peeling, or deteriorating. Repair or replace the damaged cabinet doors to ensure all surfaces remain smooth, durable, non-absorbent, and easily cleanable to prevent trapping of dirt, food debris, and moisture, which makes effective cleaning and sanitizing difficult.**Please repair or replace the affected cabinet doors.
- 23. Is the facility maintained in a clean and sanitary condition?
- 1. Deep cleaning of the back kitchen floors is required, particularly in the dry storage area beneath shelving units and around the dishwashing station and food preparation sinks. Ensure these areas are thoroughly cleaned and maintained in a sanitary condition on a routine basis. Regular deep cleaning helps prevent pest activity, reduces bacterial growth and supports a safe food preparation environment.**Please clean2. Flour build up was observed on the mixer machine and a clean mixing bowl stored on mixer.**Ensure food equipment is cleaned after use, and before storing clean dishes on the equipment.
