- Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Dishes are not being sanitized after being washed. All dishes must be washed, rinsed and then sanitized with approved sanitizer (such as a capful of bleach in a gallon (4L) of water). Lysol available in a spray bottle however the label states that it must be rinsed off afterwards if used on a food contact surface.
- Corrective Action(s): Reviewed with staff the dishwashing requirements and how to make/use a bleach sanitizer. Always read and follow the label for all chemical used on site. Dishwashing sign provided, please post either on the back splash of the three compartment sink or on the black panel at the front of it.

- Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Observed some dust build up/mold growth in side the ceiling of the ice machine. Ensure all areas inside the ice machine are cleaned regularly to prevent this.

- Corrective Action(s): Bottle of bleach sanitizer made up during inspection (2mL bleach in 1L water). Dishwashing sign provided. Recommend labeling spray bottle with instructions on how to mix up more bleach sanitizer (ie 2mL bleach with 1L/spray bottle full water)
- **Also ensure dishes are sanitized after washing and rinsing as outlined on dishwashing sign.

- The ice machine scoop was being stored in the ice bin. This is unsafe as the handle of the ice scoop touches ice and when staff go to grab the scoop, they will touch the ice with dirty hands.

- Remove the ice scoop from the ice bin and store it outside of the machine in a clean container.

- Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION):
- Staff were not washing and sanitizing dishes and surfaces properly. This could cause germs to be spread from.
- Corrective Action(s):
- Retrain staff on the proper steps for washing and sanitizing dishes and surfaces.
- Step #1: Wash with hot water and dish soap.
- Step #2: Rinse with clean hot water.
- Step #3: Sanitize by soaking/spraying with hot water and bleach solution (1 Tbsp. bleach per 4L of hot wate).

- Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION):
- The premises is operating without a valid decal. The yearly permit fees have not been paid. Hand delivered the outstanding permit fees letter to the owner.

- Immediately pay the health permit fees of $150. During the inspection, the owner provided a cheque (#141) of $150 for the premit fees.

- Observation:
- The top layer of the countertops around the 2-compartment sink is peeling. The surface is not sealed, smooth or cleanable. Owner informed me that the counter tops and sinks will be replaced in the next few months. Prior to any renovations, a drawing of the proposed changes must be provided to our office for approval.
- Corrective Action(s):
- Repair or replace the counter top so that the surface is durable, smooth, sealed, cleanable, and impervious to water. Submit a floor plan drawing of the proposed changes with dimensions and specifications for the counter tops and sinks. Be advised, a minimum 2-compartment sink is needed in addition to a separate hand washing sink.

- At time of the inspection, there were no staff working that possessed the BC FoodSafe Level 1 certificate. There must be one person always working with the certificate, so proper food handling and dish washing is being done.

- Enroll more staff members into the course to obtain the certificate.
