      • Observation: The built-in can opener had dried food debris on it, indicating it had not been cleaned since its last use. *Unsanitary equipment increases the risk of pathogen/germ growth.
      • Corrective Action: Ensure all the food-contact surfaces are cleaned and sanitized after each use to maintain proper hygiene and food safety standards.
  2. Routine Inspection

    1 infraction

    • 301 - Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not maintained in sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
      • Observation: Staff mentioned that they typically only clean food contact surfaces, and not sanitize afterwards. There was some slime build-up on the ice machine as well, and finally, the staff mentioned that the wastewater for the laundry washer is pumped into the two-compartment dishwashing sink. Public Health significance - insufficient cleaning and sanitizing of food contact surfaces may lead to contamination of food, and foodborne illnesses. Improper disposal of wastewater may also lead to contamination of food contact surfaces with dirt, grease, chemicals, and other materials.
      • Corrective Action: All food contact surfaces (including inside of ice machine) need to be cleaned on a regular basis, as well as sanitized with an approved sanitizer after cleaning. Wastewater from laundry washer needs to be disposed of in a matter that will not contaminate food contact surfaces, including sinks that are used to clean utensils or prepare food.
