      • There are several shelves/toy shelves throughout the daycare that are not anchored or secured to the wall.Please ensure tall shelves/toy shelves are properly anchored or secured to the wall to prevent any tipping hazards.

      • There are areas on the wall in the preschool jr washroom that is chipping/peeling.Please repair and repaint these areas so it is smooth and easy to clean.

Rotten wood with protruding nails was observed on the daycare walkway.-Please fix the indicated area and ensure it is in good condition.

      • 1. Dirt and paint stains observed around the handwashing sink in preschool room.-Please clean and sanitize the indicated area, ensure to maintain in sanitary condition at all times.2. Carpet at the entrance door was dirty, worn and lifting up at the edges.-Please repair or replace to prevent injury.3. Wood platform of the walkaway carving in in some areas.-Please repair to prevent injury.4. Sideboard separating from the walkaway wall.Please fix to prevent injury.

      • The sensory bottles were taped with multiple layers of clear tape making them harder to clean/disinfect properly. -Please ensure that the bottles are visibly clean. Advised to use hot glue and just to use one layer of tape.

      • 1. The sink faucet in preschool room was not in good repair.-Please fix and ensure good repair.2. One of the hand sink faucets in girls' washroom downstairs was not in good repair, the hot water faucet also not functioning properly.-Please fix and ensure good repair.

      • Children water bottles without name labels noted in toddler room.-Please label all children bottles with their names.

    • 04. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Non-Critical)?
      • Some glue and paint products did not have an AP symbol. The inspector informed the staff/operator that only non-toxic arts and crafts materials, including glue and paints, as certified by the Art and Creative Materials Institute (ACMI) must be used, as indicated by an Approved Product (AP) seal. The glue and paint products were removed.
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • The strap of the diapering change station was missing. The staff was able to locate the strap at the end of the inspection. The inspector informed the staff/operator that the strap must remain secured and fixed to the diapering station to ensure that the straps are used at all times.
    • 08. Is this facility properly constructed (Non-Critical)?
      • The two support posts in the pre-school classroom was covered with non-easily cleanable material made of faux grass, wooden board, and tape. The inspector informed the operator that all surfaces, including support posts, in the classroom must be made of smooth, impervious to moisture, and easily cleanable surface. Please fix the support posts.**FIX THE SUPPORT POSTS SO THEY REMAIN SMOOTH AND EASILY CLEANABLE.
    • 10. Is a properly supplied first aid kit provided and readily available?
      • The first-aid kit had expired alcohol swabs. There was also no tweezer in some of the kits. The inspector informed the staff/operator to ensure that a system is in place to check for expiry dates of the alcohol swabs and other first-aid materials in the kit. Please obtain new alcohol swabs.Page 41 of the Health and Safety Guide for Operators of Child Care Facilities document (https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/assets/wf/eph/wf-eh-health-safety-guidlines-child-care-facilities.pdf) outlines the requirement for first-aid kits. Please ensure to use the checklist to ensure that the first-aid kits are adequate.**ENSURE ALL FIRST-AID KITS IN THE FACILITY ARE ADEQUATELY SUPPLIED.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • The carpet in the toddlers' classroom was secured with tape. The tape appeared to have an accumulation of dust and dirt. The inspector informed the staff/operator that the carpet must be kept clean and free of dust and dirt. The staff mentioned that the tape is being changed once weekly. Tapes are going to trap dirt and dust. Please do not use and remove the tape.**KEEP THE CARPETS CLEAN.
    • 18. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Non-Critical)?
      • The sofa in the after-school care classroom was ripped. The inspector informed the staff/operator that all surfaces in the classrooms must be maintained in a good condition. Please fix/repair/remove the sofa.**FIX/REPAIR/REMOVE THE SOFA IN THE AFTER-SCHOOL CARE CLASSROOM.
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • Toys were not being sanitized after washing in the two-compartment sink. The operator mentioned that they only wash the toys with soap and water. The inspector informed the operator that all toys must be properly washed and sanitized. The inspector informed the operator to use a 100-ppm chlorine sanitizer solution in the two-compartment sink by filling the sink with water, then adding a 1/2 teaspoon of bleach per liter of water, then submerge all toys in the solution for at least 2 minutes, then air-dry. Please ensure to educate all staff regarding this toy washing procedure.**WASH/CLEAN AND SANITIZE ALL TOYS ADEQUATELY.There were no test strips for chlorine available on site. Please obtain chlorine test strips.**OBTAIN CHLORINE TEST STRIPS.

      • The two (2) handwashing sinks in the girl's toilet at the after-school care classroom did not have water; the faucets were not functioning. The inspector informed the staff/operator that all handwashing sinks must be kept fully functional with hot and cold water. Please fix the faucet and ensure that all handwashing sinks in the facility are provided with hot and cold water.**FIX THE FAUCET/PROVIDE HOT AND COLD WATER TO ALL HANDWASHING STATIONS.
