    • 20. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Non-Critical)?
      • -There was a tree stump in the front corner of Toddler 2 Room, which had a large split. Discard the stump or repair the split to prevent splinters.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • -Illness policy available, but symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea indicate an exclusion period of 24 hours. In your written illness policies update them so that it states that if a child or staff has symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea, they are to remain excluded from the daycare until they have been asymptomatic for at least 48 hours. This is to prevent potentially spreading illness unknowingly-Water temperature logs not available. Create a water temperature log and record water temperatures at any water fixtures children have access regularly to ensure they are not exceeding maximum requirements.

    • 03. Are clients at this facility being protected from hazards (Critical)?
      • The following potential hazards were noted:-There were loose staples on the wall in the Toddler 1 Room. Please remove loose staples. Staples and tacks are not recommended in child care spaces; alternatives include tape, sticky tac, Velcro etc. Another option is to cover all staples with tape.-There was a protruding screw from the kitchen set in the Toddler 1 washroom. Please remove.-There was sunscreen stored close to the floor in the Pre-school 1 Room. Please ensure this is not stored accessible to children.
    • 06. Are proper protocols being followed in regards to client care?
      • -There was no hook for the diaper mat in the Senior Toddler 2 washroom. Please ensure the mat is stored out of children’s reach.
    • 17. Is the facility and equipment being maintained in a suitable manner (Critical)?
      • -The space under the diaper mat in the Toddler 1 washroom was visibly unclean. Please clean.
    • 19. Are indoor play areas and equipment sufficient and being properly maintained to ensure client safety (Critical)?
      • -There was a slide in the Toddler 1 Room stored directly on the floor. Ensure there are cushioned mats stored under the slide.
    • 21. Is the plumbing system adequate and being properly maintained (Critical)?
      • -The hot water temperature in the Junior Toddler and Toddler 1 washrooms were measured over 52C. Please ensure sinks are measured at 49C or less. Sinks that cannot be temperature controlled should not exceed 37C.
    • 28. Are washrooms / bathing facilities properly constructed, maintained and supplied (Critical)?
      • -The Toddler 1 washroom had storage bins and a table top stored next to toilets. Please do not use washrooms for storage.
    • 32. Are general nuisance conditions, other than those noted in other violations, being prevented at this child care facility (Non-Critical)?
      • -At the time of inspection it was observed that the sliding doors leading to the washrooms in four of the classrooms were not installed with a catch at the base. Ensure a catch is installed to prevent a potential crush hazard.
