Résumé des inspections

House of the Caribbean Food Supply a été inspecté 3 fois par Interior Health Authority depuis le 5 juin 2018.

What an absolutely delightful place to enjoy some of the best authentic Caribbean food in Kelowna! The Owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming they are dedicated to providing above board service and hospitality as well as incredibly tasty authentic food! OMG try the Oxtail! Yes they’ve got Jamaican patties! Yes they’ve got the best Curry Goat anywhere! This is a great place to bring your friends and enjoy a great hearty meal, they’ve even got a little grocery section where you can buy supplies to prepare your own Caribbean food at home! This is the place to go when you are in Kelowna and you want a phenomenal meal! I always make a point of stopping here whenever I’m in Kelowna it’s definitely a “must stop!” For visitors to the sun city! Prices are reasonable and the food is absolutely awesome!

We walked in to this place only to be greeted by someone who hallered at the lady in the back. The woman slowly walked towards us and just stood there looking at us. We asked her if we could order some jerk chicken and she said "how many?" We replied "just one". She said "okay". She slowly walked to the back and I saw her grab a to-go container and spoon in some rice. I heard the chicken go into and come out of the microwave. I knew right there that this was going to be terrible. She came out with the container a few minutes later, and we were on our way. We opened the container, and knew that the rice was going to be uber dry (it was!), and the chicken would not have an authentic jerk flavor. We didn't even try the coleslaw because it looked like some watered down saugy cabbage. There was nothing authentically Jamaican about this food - the chicken appeared to be cooked in an oven rather than being smoked to the bone. There was no oxtail gravy added to the rice or chicken. It was an absolute fail. Needless to say, I won't be going back!

This is quite the place - looks great on the outside and then it’s something entirely different inside - a complete dive. You wouldn’t even know they serve food. A few tables, a shelf with a few basic Jamaican type items for sale, and a bunch of junk in one corner. I asked if they had a menu and the woman just rhymed off the different types of meat they had (oxtail, jerk chicken, curried goat). I asked what the meal consisted of and she said it was meat with rice and peas - no roti option. I noticed a small white board later with the meats and soup of the day listed - no prices at all. I ordered the curried goat - didn’t ask how much it cost. Waited about 10 minutes and she brought it out. It was absolutely delicious (lots of sharp bones with the goat however) Nice and hot (temperature) and a substantial portion. Had some salad or coleslaw with it. Wasn’t cheap though - $28 with a Diet Coke (so maybe $25-ish for just the meal). I was glad I went but man, I almost felt like I was intruding when I came in and placed the order. This was a Saturday afternoon and there were a few people hanging out when I arrived and a crowd of younger people came in shortly after me, so seems popular. I’d consider going back because the food was good, but honestly it’s a bit too pricey. I think $20 max for what they serve would be appropriate.

Okay so the negative reviews this place has are definitely fake or written by haters. It is hard to reach if you follow google maps (you have to access it from the back and have to walk around to get to the ally). When i got it, i think may have ordered from the owner.. I was between the goat curry and jerk chicken, but opted for the curry. When i got my food (always served in take out boxes), the owner gave me a little jerk chicken to try. Very nice of him!! I went to the beach to eat as the restaurant it self is quite dark. The portion is HUGE, and surprisingly for the price, i got atleast a pound goat meat. The curry was so damn delicious and the meat was so tender and broke down like butter. The rice with beans were outstanding. This was my first Caribbean meal ever and itll be very hard to top it. Highly recommended.

5 stars for the food. The jerk pork ($20) and chicken ($18) are absolutely delicious and so spicy. The portion's so big too. I love the rice and beans and the veggies that come with the meat. The only problem is how hard it is to eat because of its spice (personally). But I 100% recommend eating these foods if you can take some heat. I have to state, though, that the store is not exactly a restaurant.
