    • 302 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The scoops for bulk food are cleaned by wiping cloth daily. Staff will clean all the scoops in the 2 compartment sink, then sanitize the scoops with 100 ppm of chlorine solution. Fully immerse all scoops in the chlorine solution for more than 30 seconds, then air dry the scoops.

    • 202 - Food not processed in a manner that makes it safe to eat [s. 14(1)]
      • Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Sugarcane juicing machine was observed in the back of the store near Produce & Dairy section. Staff stated juice could be made immedietely for purchase and Operator stated juice was made for a special event (Lohri). No hand sink near by. No sanitizer seen nearby. Machine stored on some crates that were lined with cardboard and wrapped around with plastic wrap. The inside of the machine appeared to be in a dirty condition. Sugarcane juicing has not been approved at this facility.
      • Corrective Action(s): Stop making and selling sugarcane juice. Submit a food safety plan and sanitation plan for sugarcane juicing that includes a hand sink set up, specifications on machine (must be NSF certified), instructions on how to dismantle and clean machine. Until then, the sugarcane juice machine must be removed from the premises. Correct immedetely.

      • Observation: Dry fruits and nuts (raisins, cashews, almonds) stored in bulk bins without any lids or other cover.
      • Corrective Action(s): Open bulk bin foods with the exception of fruits and vegetables must be covered to protect from contamination.
      • At the time of inspection, Operator placed plastic wrap on all bins - this is satisfactory until a long term solution is put in place (ex. using lids that can be opened). Ensure plastic wrap is changed frequently. Correct by March 1, 2025.

      • 212 - Operator has not provided acceptable written food handling procedures [s. 23]
      • Observation: Sugarcane juicing occurring on-site. Premises does not have approval for sugarcane juicing.
      • Corrective Action(s): Submit a food safety plan for sugarcane juicing. Until approval is obtained, sugarcane juice machine must not be stored on-site. Correct immediately.

      • Observation: Tiles are breaking in walk-in cooler causing water to pool and making it difficult to clean
      • Corrective Action(s): Replace or repair broken tiles so surfaces are smooth, non-porous and easy to clean.
      • Correct by Feb 16, 2025.
