    • 16. Is the facility free of unapproved animals, vermin and/or insects (unless noted elsewhere), and maintained to prevent the entry or harbourage of pests?
      • During the inspection, a non-service animal was observed in the facility. If the facility wants to allow non-service animals to enter the facility the following is required:Signage:a) Signage is required by entrance to the facility, notifying the public that animals may be present in the establishment.b) If the public is allowed to bring their domestic pets into a food establishment, the signage must identify the types of animals allowed and prohibited, and control measures for pets.Response Plans(i) All adverse exposure incidents involving animals and staff or patrons must be properly documented. This must include:· Name and contact information of the individual involved;· Name and contact information of the owner of the animal involved;· Type of animal and exposure (bite, scratch, etc.);· Time, date and location of the incident; and· Circumstances of the incident.(ii) The operator and staff must be aware of the proper response to a biting or scratching incident. This would include:· Documentation of adverse incidents;· Initial treatment of the wound or injury;· Referral to a hospital or physician for medical assessment; b) Urine or Fecal Incidents(i) The operator must have:· Written procedures as to what staff members will be involved in cleaning urine or fecal incident.· Appropriate equipment available to isolate the area contaminated by urine or feces and to properly clean and disinfect the affected area. Equipment used for cleaning urine or fecal incidents must be solely used for that purpose, and be separate from regular cleaning and maintenance equipment.· Written procedures as to how to properly clean and disinfect an area contaminated by urine or feces.(ii) When responding to a urine or fecal incident, staff must:· Wear disposable gloves and protective clothing covering their personal or work clothes during the process.· Dispose of the gloves, remove the protective clothing and wash their hands thoroughly after completion of the task.
