    Stopped by Merritt for a quick break on our road trip and noticed this restaurant right beside a gas station—decided to give it a try, and I’m so glad we did! First off, the kids’ meals were very generous—great portions, plus a free drink and even a bowl of ice cream, which was a nice bonus. I ordered the beef dip (haven’t had one in a while), and it was incredibly flavourful and delicious. I was so impressed that I ended up ordering another dish—the dynamite prawn bowl—and wow, it had an amazing Asian fusion twist. Absolutely delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meals, including the lemon pie for dessert. Honestly, there was nothing we didn’t like. Highly recommended if you’re passing through Merritt!

    Our friend highly recommended this place and it is such a typical old school diner sort of place. We weren't really hungry but just want a snack to tide us until our dinners gathering with friends. So we shared a Schnitzel and a Caesar salad. Both was really good and the Caesar dressing was excellent. I must say it is definitely better I expected and will try their other location to see if they are just as good.

    Home Restaurant is true to its name - the food is what you would expect of a meal that would be made at home. The turkey dinner was good, and I would’ve been happy to have it as a home-cooked meal. The service was nice but kind of awkward. They misunderstood our order twice and corrected it, so it’s okay.

    Classic diner food! We had the turkey dinner, a hot turkey sandwich, and clam chowder. And the pies… the pies! The gravy for the turkey dinners was flavourful and perfect on the mashed potatoes and turkey. I enjoyed the tartness of the cranberry sauce. Not sweet like the canned versions, it was an excellent contrast to the saltiness of the gravy and turkey. I liked the broccoli as the side. Everything was as great as expected for a well rated restaurant. The chocolate cream pie was perfect. The lemon meringue was extremely flavourful… more lemon flavour than I have ever managed to create in my home versions. I wondered if lemon extract was used to enhance it, and it had a slight gritty texture to the lemon filling. My brother thought it was the best he ever had. Recommended.

    We came to Home Restaurant as a group of four, and every one of us really enjoyed our meal. Everything was fresh, delicious, and high quality. The food was so good that I completely forgot to take a photo before eating—the only picture I managed to get was of the empty plate! 😂 The portions were generous, and all four of us left very happy and satisfied. We’ll definitely be back!
